Student rugby player joins University's Rainbow Laces campaign

The University's rugby and football teams have joined up with to campaign against homophobia in sport.

Student Andrew Burnett (2015) is one of the rugby players taking part in the , which aims to tackle homophobia in sport and raise awareness of issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender players and fans.

In the he says: "When LGBT+ people are discriminated against in sport, we all lose."

Equality Champion at the University of Cambridge, Dr Nick Bampos, said: 鈥淚鈥檓 proud to see our teams joining Stonewall鈥檚 Rainbow Laces campaign, encouraging all of us to do our part in making all people feel welcome in sport. It鈥檚 crucial for organisations like the University of Cambridge to show we not only welcome LGBT+ people, but are active in leading positive change."
