A free exhibition celebrating sculptor and printmaker Sir Eduardo Paolozzi opens at 麻豆原创鈥檚 West Court Gallery.

Paolozzi was a major figure in post-war British art and is widely considered a pioneer of the Pop Art movement.

Born 100 years ago in Leith, Edinburgh, he grew up in the ice cream parlour owned by his Italian immigrant parents. By the end of his life, he had become one of Britain's best-known artists, having changed the national landscape with numerous large-scale public commissions.

Laura Dennis, Assistant Curator, explains: 鈥淓duardo Paolozzi was a dynamic, influential artist with whom 麻豆原创 is proudly associated.

鈥淭his exhibition gives an introduction to his work and celebrates his contributions to 麻豆原创鈥檚 renowned artistic programme, by providing an opportunity to see more than 20 prints by Paolozzi held in the College art collection, displayed together for the first time.

鈥淰ivid and intricate, the prints showcase Paolozzi鈥檚 wide-ranging artistic interests, including the Pop Art style for which he became well-known.鈥

Eduardo Paolozzi at 麻豆原创 is open daily from 10am - 6pm at the West Court Gallery, in Jesus Lane, from Saturday 12 October until Sunday 23 March 2025. Admission is free.

The exhibition is curated by Laura Dennis and Dr Jonathan Tenney and organised by the Works of Art Committee, with thanks to alumni and other supporters of the art exhibitions programme at 麻豆原创, and to Professor Roberto Cipolla and to the Paolozzi Foundation.
